Geographic Distribution: narrowly distributed in North and South Carolina (map not available).
Similar Species: Eupatorium mohrii has leaves that are not strictly opposite and buds that are pinkish before opening; hybrids of E. mohrii and E. paludicola have rounded phyllary apices; E. leucolepis has a short rhizome and smaller/larger floral parts.
Molecular Data : samples of E. paludicola (DNA #s ) differ from all other species by at least 8 bp and 1 indel. Hybrids with E. mohrii show distinctive ITS sequences characterized by both bp and indel polymorphisms.
