Eupatorium linearifolium

Distinguishing Features: Plants generally have several stems emerging from near the base; leaves are oblanceolate; phyllaries are acute to obtuse.

Habitat: old fields, open areas .

Geographic Distribution : widespread in the southeastern U.S.

Similar Species: Eupatorium hyssopifolium hybridizes with E. linearifolium, and the hybrids have broader leaves.

Molecular Data : samples of E. linearifolium differ in the nuclear ITS sequence from all other species by a minimum of 10 bp changes (most similar species is E. lancifolium) as well as indels.
