Eupatorium resinosum

Distinguishing Features: heads have 9-13 flowers, and leaves are sessile.

Habitat: open, wet areas - edges of ponds.

Geographic Distribution : restricted to a few locations in North Carolina and Virginia, listed as an endangered species.

Similar Species: Eupatorium perfoliatum has leaves that perfoliate rather than sessile.

Molecular Data : samples of E. resinosum (DNA #s ) differ in the ITS sequence from E. perfoliatum by 4-6 bp changes.
