E. capillifolium
E. pinnatifidum 1
E. pinnatifidum 2
E. serotinum
E. perfoliatum
Eupatorium pinnatifidum has 2 possible
progenitor combinations –
both involve E. capillifolium (top),
but the first type has as the second
parent E. serotinum, as shown
by the “stutter” (red arrow) induced
by a 1 bp length difference
involving the poly-T run (red
line: 4 bp in capillifolium vs. 5 bp
in serotinum). In contrast
the second type has as the
second parent E. perfoliatum,
as can be seen by the lack of any
stutter (perfoliatum
has 4 bp as in capillifolium). Note the bp polymorphisms (purple arrows) including two that would only be produced by E.
perfoliatum as the second parent (orange arrows).
